An
innovat0ive mechanism to instil discipline
and nurture school pride has been initiated
at Mount Alvernia High School, with the
introduction of the Brilliant, Excellent
Students in Training (B.E.S.T.) Club.
Simply
put, B.E.S.T can be regarded as the female
version of a typical cadet group, with members
being exposed to activities geared at fostering
team spirit, discipline and maintaining
a positive attitude.
Failure
not an option
'Always
striving to be the best of the best' is
the motto that B.E.S.T. Club members live
by and practise throughout their daily lives.
Whether in regard to extra-curricular activities
or their academic work, failure is not an
option for these young ladies. Not only
does the club's motto speak to their level
of self-confidence, it also inspires and
influences others to sign up.
The
commander-in-chief, the group's leader,
is given the job to drill her fellow members
or assist them during physical activities.
She also ensures that they obey the rules
of the club and school, and sees that they
maintain discipline and respect for themselves,
as well as those who preside over them.
In
addition to good behaviour, this unique
but effective club, also lists outstanding
academic performance as a criterion to join,
in keeping with their objective to improve
or develop the behaviour of the students
in order to produce brilliant, excellent,
responsible and mature adults for the future.
