Vivitar's Neon Swivel Bluetooth speaker comes packed in an easy-to-open, frustration-free box. The speaker is available in a variety of neon colours, as the name suggests; our demo unit was aquamarine. Also enclosed is a USB charger and a 3.5mm auxiliary cable for wired connections. Charging the unit takes approximately two hours with an adaptive charger.
The speaker has a flexible swivel design and is able to fold into a variety of shapes. The status light flashes blue to indicate connectivity, and in pairing mode the light flashes from blue and read. To the back of the unit are audio controls, allowing the user to adjust the volume and to skip tracks. A click of the power button switches the unit on, and holding the button down for a few seconds activates pairing mode, which is confirmed by a chime.
The output from the unit is commendable. The quality is rich and proves to be a good companion for Bluetooth-enabled devices. The speaker does not provide a lot of bass output, but delivers good-quality sound. The Neon Swivel speaker is compatible with Android and Apple devices. It is also a handy speaker phone system, with a clear microphone and good audio output. Our model was able to provide more than 10 hours of continuous playback from a single charge cycle.
