Feature-packed Galaxy Note 8 now available in Jamaica

Written by Kareem La Touche

Samsung Electronics recently launched its premium workhorse phone in Jamaica to the

delight of its ardent followers. It now boast a 6.3” inches super AMOLED screen with a 19: 2

aspect ratio, which is bigger than any previous model. The company adapted this design

template to give the phone a better ergonomically feel. Meaning, the phone has a more

slender rectangular look and with slightly curved edges that makes it a bit easier to hold in

the hand.

“We believe that every Note 8 customer has been hungry and thirsty for the new phone.

Because ever since the Note 5, they have not been able to upgrade and now they are going

to have the latest device with infinity display and water resistance,” said Leonardo Silva,

Product Manager of Samsung Electronics Latinoamerica.

The screen also takes up more real estate as the bezels on the top and bottom are extremely

thin. This will help to make multitasking more pleasurable by better utilization of the split

screen functionality, where two apps can be opened and viewed simultaneously by splitting

the screen.

“Where the body size is concerned its very comparable to the previous generation, however

the screen to body ratio is much better. This comes in very handy for the app pair option in

spit-screen mode, where you can preset two apps to launch simultaneously, which is a big

plus for productivity,” revealed Silva.

Samsung has also began to use a uniform design template across its Galaxy models, which

has the Note 8 bearing striking resemblance with the Samsung S8 plus. Siva explained, “We

have a design team based out of Korea and the US, and they conduct an extensive survey

about what the market needs. So this, along with our customer feedback influenced our

design choice.”

Obviously, the device has come a far way from the previous Note 4, which sported a leather-

inspired back cover. Now it has a shiny back glass cover, which gives it a very polished

finish. “We used the Gorilla Glass 5 technology which is ultra strong. Additionally we use

glass to incorporate wireless charging capabilities, unlike metal devices it doesn’t heat up

very easily,” revealed Silva.

The company is also very big on security and assures users that the Note 8 will offer all the

relevant security features. “We take security very seriously and we want to offer users

different ways they can unlock their phones. So with the Note 8, you can unlock your phone

with the iris scanner, which is one of the most secure authentication system,” affirmed Silva.

With all this being said, the most distinguishable feature on a Note device is the S Pen. It is a

pen-like stylus which can be deployed from the base of the phone. The S Pen features a

finer tip, improved pressure sensitivity and new features like Live Message. This allows you

to move the cursor over the text to quickly translate not only individual words, but complete

sentences in up to 71 languages and instantly convert foreign units and currencies.
