BB awareness tip

There are more than 100 million 'street' or homeless children in the world. The percentage of children living on the streets in Jamaica hasn't been calculated recently, but approximately 6,000 children are in institutional and foster care. Children and adults can play their role in helping a child living in these situations by suggesting places of safety to children seen on the streets daily, or contact these places of safety listed in the government pages of the directory. One such place of safety or children's homes is the City of Refuge Children's Home in Kingston and Manchester. Persons can sponsor a child living in this home each month by giving US$25, that is, roughly J$2,500, to help with education, food, clothing and health care. You will also be allowed to write to the sponsored child to learn more about them emotionally and mentally. This may help a child to stay focused and lessen the risk of him or her going back to the streets where the child is at risk of abuse. http://www.thecityofrefugechildrenshome.org/Scripts/PublicSite/index.php?userid=&template=Sponsor&group=ContentGap
